The first day of spring happened on Tuesday, and I’m so excited that spring is officially here! And, I have to tell you, this is my all-time favorite season. There are so many reasons to love it! Outdoors, everything is in bloom. We’re finally starting to see a bit more daylight (almost a minute each day!), and we’re welcoming back warm weather. If mother nature were my client, I bet this would be the time of year she visited for a home refresh. When it comes to interior design, here are my top reasons to love this time of year.
If you haven’t already, now that spring is here, it’s time to get rid of the winter palettes. Spring color combinations are fresh and youthful. Incorporate flowers into your patterns throughout your home. Try floral throw pillows, tablecloths, or even wallpaper.
Often when people think spring, they think of subdued hues and pastels, but this isn’t the case! Bright patterns and colors can be used throughout your home to give you a spring-like vibe.
If your taste is more neutral, don’t feel like you have to go all out with bold color added to every room. Bright accents complement neutral tones and leave your home feeling more natural — just like the beautiful outdoors.
Want a whole new look, but don’t want all new furniture? Take a look at this painted piece for inspiration. See what you have around the house that can be spruced up with a fresh coat of bright paint.
It’s not just the indoor design that I love about spring; it’s also the outside! Now’s the time to revamp your outdoor spaces and create the perfect entertaining environment for backyard barbeques, yard games, playtime, and more. For the team at Peltier Home, that also means a few outdoor brainstorming sessions!
It’s time to put away the pinecones and usher in the fresh cut flowers! Just look at how much this arrangement of my favorite flower ranunculus brightens up this room in the Pasadena Showcase House of Design.
Note: This year’s showcase opens on April 22!
When filling vases, bowls, and other dishes don’t just stick to fresh flowers, embrace the spring season with other seasonal items like fresh produce from your local farmers market.
Although a small detail, springtime photography can make a big difference in your home! I recently had new photos taken with Lovechild. If you haven’t done so yet, click here to read about my experience.
