If you’re a Pasadena local, you’ve likely heard of a wonderful charity event benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills called Festival of Trees. For the last two years, Peltier Home has participated in this annual event. As a third-time tree designer in 2017, it’s safe to say we take our tree decorating very seriously! By Halloween, we’ve planned our theme and we shortly after, we begin our shopping!
This year, there were 33 decorated trees (17 full-size trees and 16 table top trees)and a handful of wreaths available for auction. Festival attendees have the option to purchase raffle tickets and bid on their favorite trees. But it’s not just the tree they are bidding on — it’s also the presents underneath.
We love this event not only for its beauty and holiday spirit but also because of the creativity demonstrated by each participant. It’s true, the tree designers can get a bit carried away, but it’s all for a good cause. This year, one team even auctioned off a puppy!
There are few queens in history as iconic as Marie Antoinette, and she served as our inspiration for our tree this year. We choose the theme “Let Them Eat Cake!” We filled our tree with gorgeous hues inspired by the French queen. Even our nutcrackers flowed smoothly into the design. To accent, we added white feathers reminiscent of an 18th-century headdress.
The gifts underneath also followed our theme. We included gift cards to restaurants, spas, and the Langham Hotel along with pink candles from Archipelago, and fresh macaroons.
We’re sure the queen herself would have been quite pleased!
This event is a highlight for us each year. We have so much fun seeing our tree concept come to fruition, bidding on other trees, dressing up, enjoying dinner, and dancing afterward — all for a great local cause that’s raised nearly 1 million dollars in it’s 7 years!
