Before & After – South Pasadena Master Bath

South Pasadena Master Bath
Let’s start this post off with a quiz, shall we?
When it comes to mornings, which is your disposition:

  1. I can’t WAIT to start the day! I love mornings. The earlier the better I always say. Before the sun rises, I’m already fired up and ready to roll.
  2. How is this alarm clock going off ALREADY? If I skip a shower, I can sleep for 20 more minutes, and I eat a bagel from the car on my commute into work to save an extra 10.

Ok, all you go-getter option 1 anomalies out there, even with your love of mornings, I would venture to say you’ve probably had a morning or two where you wished you could just get a few more minutes of sleep.

Whether you’re a 1 or 2, this master bath is sure to make you jump out of bed and ready to start your day.

But first, let’s start with the before.

Although the original bathroom had a great footprint, it felt closed off, dated and ready for an update. The homeowners wanted classic, luxury and sophistication.

In Progress

With the end goal in mind, we knew every detail needed to count. To make the transition we envisioned, we needed a full rehab.

I always start with a floor plan.  The only major changes we made to the footprint was the tub area.  We opened that up because it was the PERFECT space for a beautiful freestanding tub.  We also added some storage there, but decided to make custom shelves that really opened that nook up to the rest of the bathroom.

Once the floor plan was approved we started designing.  I always look for an opportunity to add some detail in the way of accent tiles, but this bathroom had many places for that.  We added a beautiful glass tile backsplash from Ann Sacks and created a custom mosaic tile insert on the floor that took this bathroom to another level.

Once we had the tile secured we added the other details like plumbing fixtures, the leaded glass insert on the vanity doors, wallpaper and drapery treatments.

This bathroom has so many design elements that all connect with each other, even the statement flush-mount light fixtures tie into the curves seen in the back splash, floor pattern and curvy details here and there.

Getting the details just right in these drawings was a MUST for this project.  Everything needed to fit just right, so we had to double and triple check our measurements for accuracy and work closely with the contractor to make everything look perfect in the end.  you can see the detail we included in our elevations below.

You can see the progress photos below as each little layer of detail was added…

The After

Every little detail came together perfectly, from a custom tile runner and delicate glass backsplash to the circular leaded glass pattern on the cabinet fronts. This master bathroom felt brighter, airier, and elegant. This is what bathroom #goals are inspired by.

Now tell me you wouldn’t rush out of bed to start your day here!
