Before & After – Little Boys Room

When this young family contacted me to complete a full home redesign, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only were they ready for a fresh atmosphere, but they were also wanted us to help create a little boys room that could transition into a big kid room within a year or two. So we took this very adult like guest bedroom and made it a cool boys room that could grow with him!

If you’ve been following along on the blog, be sure to check out the other articles on this home refresh. You can see the kitchen transformation here and the master bedroom transformation here.

Before, the bedroom felt a bit dark. Pops of color and large windows brightened the room, but the homeowners were looking for a softer color palette.

The end result was a hit! The walls went from a dark brown to a blue. The lighter, neutral colors brightened the room, creating a dramatic transformation. One of my favorite details is, of course, the rocking chair you see above, something that will continue to get use, even as he grows.

There were so many great details that we added to this space like custom drapery treatments, new carpet and lots of practical storage.  As he grows, the crib converts to a bed and we even selected bedding for when that happens.

It’s always fun to create a little boys room, and with a little forward thinking you can also plan for what the room will need just a year or two in the future.
