Your Last Chance to Visit The Pasadena Showcase House of Design

Although we’re not quite ready for it to end, it’s the final weekend of the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. The house opened on Sunday, April 22 and will be closing for the 2018 season on Sunday, May 20.

If you haven’t been to the Pasadena Showcase House of Design before, put it on your list of things to do this weekend! Don’t write it off as just another home show, it’s definitely not your typical home and garden show. This event is downright historic. Not only is this year’s house a 103-year old estate, but the event itself is in its 54th season — that’s 54 years of art, history, and Pasadena!

The event is put on each year by the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA), a non-profit organization bringing music enrichment programs to Southern California. The proceeds from the event fund three annual music programs, plus award gifts and grants to other nonprofit organizations that provide music programs including music therapy, music education, scholarships and the underwriting of concerts.

This year, the house is called “The Overlook.” The home was first built in 1915 by two widowed sisters, Ruth Hargrove and Mary Emma Baker. The house has strong Mediterranean and Italian influences and was later expanded by the third owner, who also happened to be a widow.

Designing For A Cause

In this year’s house, the Peltier Home team designed the grand foyer — which also happened to be featured on the LA Times sneak peek about the home. The entrance to the home offered our team with the opportunity to blend many of the timeless elements found in the structure of the home with a more modern style.

As you walk inside, you’ll notice the bold, contemporary patterned flooring featuring black and white quartz. Although modern in design, the high-quality materials give a timeless feeling to the room.

The furniture we used in the room is more traditional in style and works well with the home’s architecture. However, the fabrics, accessories, and artwork feature fresh, fashionable tones to give the foyer a more current feel. Bright greens and blues slice through the black and white contrast while the classic floral prints and original artwork ties the room together.

While we are immensely proud of our work, there are dozens of other local artists featured in the home, and the 2018 Pasadena Showcase House of Design is an event every art lover should attend! To buy tickets, visit pasadenashowcase.org.

This year, we gave away two free tickets to visit the house. Be sure to be the first to learn about other exclusive offers from Peltier Home. Subscribe today.

Client Love
“Amy spent a lot of time getting to know us, our style and comfort level. We felt that we could totally trust that she would design something that was unique to our family, and she did just that.”
