Festival of Trees Pasadena

Designing to Give Back

Festival of Trees Pasadena

If you’re a Pasadena local, you’ve likely heard of a wonderful charity event benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills called Festival of Trees. For the last two years, Peltier Home has participated in this annual event. As a third-time tree designer in 2017, it’s safe to say we take our tree decorating very seriously! By Halloween, we’ve planned our theme and we shortly after, we begin our shopping!

Festival of Trees 2017

This year, there were 33 decorated trees (17 full-size trees and 16 table top trees)and a handful of wreaths available for auction. Festival attendees have the option to purchase raffle tickets and bit on their favorite trees. But it’s not just the tree they are bidding on — it’s also the presents underneath.

We love this event not only for its beauty and holiday spirit but also because of the creativity demonstrated by each participant. It’s true, the tree designers can get a bit carried away, but it’s all for a good cause. This year, one team even auctioned off a puppy!

Peltier Home Tree Theme

There are few queens in history as iconic as Marie Antoinette, and she served as our inspiration for our tree this year. We choose the theme “Let Them Eat Cake!” We filled our tree with gorgeous hues inspired by the French queen. Even our nutcrackers flowed smoothly into the design. To accent, we added white feathers reminiscent of an 18th-century headdress.

The gifts underneath also followed our theme. We included gift cards to restaurants, spas, and the Langham Hotel along with pink candles from Archipelago, and fresh macaroons.

We’re sure the queen herself would have been quite pleased!

This event is a highlight for us each year. We have so much fun seeing our tree concept come to fruition, bidding on other trees, dressing up, enjoying dinner, and dancing afterward — all for a great local cause that’s raised nearly 1 million dollars in it's 7 years!

It’s not too late to get your tree decorations and holiday gifts!

Pasadena Holiday Party

Happy Holidays From Peltier Home

Pasadena Holiday Party

You know the saying, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year!” After our annual holiday party, I couldn’t agree more! We know the holiday season is busy and jam-packed with events, so instead of waiting until December, we opt to treat our holiday party as a festive holiday kick-off.

The Peltier Home holiday party is open to the public. We encourage our South Pasadena neighbors to stop in, meet our team, and see what our store is all about.

It wouldn’t be a holiday party without seasonal decorations. We made sure our tree was ready. How cute are the bells we used here?!

At the store, we pride ourselves on curating some of the most unique holiday gifts in town. We have something for everyone on your list. During the holiday party, we showcased some of our favorite presents, but if you’re still shopping, take a look at this list for inspiration.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without the food and drinks!

All of those highlights aside, what makes this event truly special and important to myself and my team is the opportunity to thank all of our vendors, clients, and neighbors. We have had an exceptional 2017, and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with this year.

Thank you for making this a year we’ll never forget and happy holidays!

Plenty of Design Inspiration in Sonoma California

I finally made it wine country this summer! Having a little boy its difficult to get away on an adult vacation, but we roped in my mom and packed our bags, even booking a flight at the last minute instead of driving. Sonoma was even better than I imagined and there was so much that I loved and can use as design inspiration, from the simple lifestyle to the earthy (but still vibrant) color palette. Growing up in Michigan we are used to heading “up north” during the summers, it’s all very relaxed and casual. Sonoma had all of that and more, you could definitely feel the California vibe. I also hadn’t been to San Francisco in ages so it was great to revisit that as well.

My favorite winery was the Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, yes like the hotub! The Jacuzzi was actually named after this family. You can read their bio here and see their amazing winery.

Besides ‘hitting’ up the wineries I also stumbled upon a few neat restaurants and discovered a couple of new things about my own taste.

“I discovered I like that California country side for its design inspiration, and I can’t get enough of the amazing landscaping.”

I didnt really have a word for it and had a hard time trying to describe it, even to myself. But the wildflower look with grasses, lavender and some rose bushes thrown in, pretty much sums it up. Its that natural earthy feel with a round softness to it and the earthy tones with pops of color like lavender.

Autumn skies & landscapes

Sonoma really had a country feel to it that I am all about. Not like the mid-west country that I’m used to, but country with an effortless cool factor. We stopped at a great place for lunch, Sunflower Cafe. The back patio was covered in greanery with pops of orange and yellow sunflowers, of course. Very effortless but also trendy at the same time.

We also took a hike and found ourselves underneath a canopy of redwoods. I felt like I was on a movie set. Its so interesting to me how northern California is SO different than southern California. The light is cooler, the colors are cooler and of course the weather is cooler. In Southern California everything has a warmer look and feel to it, and the landscaping is very different as well

Of course the best part was spending time with my husband and best friends!

The whole trip was super charming and I cannot wait to visit again! Plus, I’m almost out of wine 🙂
